Being a Good Steward of My Time

Side Note: I haven't fallen off the domestic wagon... I have just misplaced the converter for my memory card, so I can't upload photos of my various projects (I have been busy organizing and decorating for Christmas). I think I'll have to break down and buy a new converter...

Now that I'm taking time off and focusing on being a house wife (which I am LOVING), I am trying to be more conscious of how I spend this so-called "free time". I'll be the first to admit that I love the extra rest I get each morning, but I'd like to think that most of time at home isn't so self-indulgent :) I'm getting involved with various non-profits and trying to develop skills like crafting and sewing (much harder than they sound), and I like to think I'm getting better about keeping a clean and organized home. I like Matt coming home to a welcoming, comfortable space :) I am also learning about comparison shopping and getting good deals, which is helping the budget!

It is a challenge, though! I'm an infamous procrastinator (just ask my college roomie, Kim) and sometimes I hurriedly put the house together just before Matt gets home. If anyone has any encouraging stories or useful strategies, I'd love to know!

I know exactly what you mean. I'm embarassed to tell you how many shows are now on my Tivo with my "extra time". In About a Boy, Hugh Grant says living your life without a job (like me and you) is like being your own cruise ship director and you should plan your day in 30 minute increments. That's the best I've got. You can also always waste and hour or so on Facebook!

Yes- facebook and the DVR have the tendency to occupy my day if I'm not care. I like the 30 minute increments! That makes me responsible for just one, small chunk at a time :)

Amy,
One of my favorite hints from my grandmother......after a long afternoon playing bridge when the iced tea turned to a slightly more substantial drink, she would rush home and put a pot of boiling water on the stove. She said, he never looked. Just assumed that she had been cooking all afternoon!
Good luck!

Mama Celoni- You have the most amazing advice! I don't play bridge, but I have been playing with the glue gun lately... I'm sure I'll try this trick within a week or two :)
